Moritz Stumm
Moritz Stumm (Jahrgang 1981) lebt seit 2003 in Berlin. Als Musikvideoregisseur und VJ arbeitet er unter anderem mit "Richard Ruin et les demoniques" (die Band des Berliner Malers Martin Eder)zusammen.
Als Student der UDK in Berlin setzt er sich multimedial mit Video, Skulptur und Installation auseinander.
Bei den Videoarbeiten mit dem Namen "Don't believe Hype Williams" ironisiert er Musikvideos und Popstarkult, die seine Arbeit als Musikvideoregisseur bestimmt. Er inszeniert sich selbst in der Rolle unterschiedlicher Popstargrößen, wie Prince oder Angus Young, kopiert ihre Gesten und führt diese durch Überzeichnung ad absurdum.
Die Reduzierung auf simpelste filmische Mittel steht im Kontrast zu den sonst hochästhetischen und aufwendig produzierten Videos. Er gibt die Popgrößen und ihre Videos so der Lächerlichkeit preis und huldigt ihnen aber gleichzeitig. Die Installation "Skolopend" kreist um das Thema Naturwissenschaft, Biologie und Mutation.
Wie ein Exponat aus einem Naturwissenschaftlichen Museum anmutend, ist dieses Wesen doch ein offensichtlicher Fake.
Der Künstler erschafft sich seine eigene Kreatur und stellt die Frage nach der Macht der Wissenschaft und ihrem Willen zur Kategorisierung.
